After mowing the lawn in the backyard I went to go take a look at the creek behind my house. The creek is about 5 feet wide and 2 feet deep and runs along my backyard and down into the forest, since construction on the other side of the creek about 50 feet away had been set up, Ive been noticing alot of oil deposits in the creek. Today however, I found that the creek was almost dry and in a little puddle, there was a Sun Fish, and a Bluegill, Since my 29 gallon had finished cycling a few weeks earlier, and seing as it was set up for natives, this was my perfect opportunity.
I went home and got a large fish net out, scooped them up into a bucket of the creek water, took them inside and after measuring them ( Sunfish - 5-6 inches || Bluegill 6 inches ) I slowly acclimated them in my 29 gallon for about an hour. After doing so, they were released into my 29 gal tank with two rock formations and enough plants to cover the bottom ( Since they are bottom dwellers ).
A few days after ( Today ) the are happily swimming in their new home and are being feed a wide variety of foods, Some of which include Guppy Fry, worms, bugs, etc. They havent attempted to jump out and both have picked out their territory, both nudge each other here and there but mostly their aren't aggresive :hyper:

I plan to post pictures here after labor day ( This Tuesdays )

WoW that's a stunning fish ! :hyper:
I know absolutely nothing about them though :dunno:

Their roots are from cichlids i beleive but they love to eat bugs, worms, minnows, anything really. They get over 1 1/2 Pounds, thats big! As I said before, the pic above isnt mine, its just to give you an idea of what they look like, but after i get home ill post pics of the tank/the fish themselves...

Edit Today:

I just fed them some of my guppy fry, I have a male and a group of females (5) giving me a steady supply of food for them :)...sorry guppy lovers...
