After missing my 6ft reef I am in the process of considering a 2ft nano cube as a replacement!

Thinking the use of one of those fluval fx-5's as a means of increasing water volume, storing rowaphos & carbon & as a means of flow as these have 2 adjustable outputs with a water turnaround of approx 3000l/h in an un-restricted state (no ceramic media),
This would give roughly a 15 times water turnover with limited clutter inside tank.

Lighting would be a 70w halide & actinic combo suspended above the tank.

What do you think??

Where can you buy a 2ft cube tank?

Not sure...the largest cube I am familiar with that stays within the definition of a nano tank is the 30G Oceanic. SH

Aquamedic Chromis is close

If you had just 1200 maxijets how many do you reckon you would need for a 2ft cube??

a 2ft cube is 60 gals a bit beyond the nano realm! You could get any decent tank shop to make one out of acrylic or glass. The closest I know of a comercial tank is a hex

Ok, realise the 2ft cube is too big so have been looking around and have found this.

22gals, 24"x15"x17" Has a good sized filtration unit built into the top would be ideal for the rowa & carbon.

I'm thinking this combined with 2 x maxijet 1200's would give around 24x flow

It has 2 tubes built in, would be ok for starters, could fit 3-4 t5's in their at a later date.

Also thinking deltec mce600 skimmer as can't find any other decent hang-on's.

What do you reckon?? Viable & do-able??

The people who make this also make a good hang-on skimmer with built in UV!!

Wish I could find their homepage!!

Found a pic on a US saltwater forum of the same tank in marine form, looks good. He's running a prizm skimmer on this.

Forget most of that previously, have now took the plunge & ordered some bits.

First off, managed to obtain a 24x15x15 custom all glass tank.

Have bought a new seio 820 (wow, lots of flow for the money, tested in a bowl and seems to be good)

Also bought aquamedic biostar flotor skimmer.

2 x 24w twin t5 lighting ballasts. Will be running 2 x white 2 x actinic.

Will take plenty of pics as I go along and start assembling this lot.

Going to fit equipment behind a baffle across rear of tank if I can figure out a way of removing seio with baffle in place!!

Sounds like some good hardware. I like the choices of the Seio and the PC lighting. Should be a good match. Watch out for heat issues (might need a fan in that hood) and I cant wait for pics :)

Hoods gonna be elevated above the tank so hopefullt heat issues will be a minimum.

It's been a while due to no access to my workshop but I've finally managed to put together the parts for a dry (wet?) freswater run.

What my plan is.

Finally have some life in it (If you can call live rock life)

Lighting looks a bit strange as it's a daylight bulb spotlight due to the fact I haven't finished the t5canopy yet!!
