Hi

My Lyretail Molly gave birth this past Jun 14, and she started becoming fat a couple of days later but I just thought she just regained weight or something, but, I noticed today that she is starting to became pregnant again, you know her belly is really getting rounded

Is this normal????? it hasn't even been 10 days since she gave birth and it seems as she had been pregnant for weeks

Yup, she's probably pregnant again. They usually get pregnant again, very soon after giving birth. Especially if there is a male in the tank. They will have fry about every 4-6 weeks...so be prepared for babies!

And If she's bigger this time, this soon in the pregnancy, then she may be having a LARGE batch of fry.

ok i have one also
i have a black female that gave birth on june 8 dose she need a male to have more babys
and how lond to they have babys with out a male and how lond to they carry them for and how long to you thin i will get another batch ??? sorry for all the questions

No, she does not need a male to have more babies. She can store the sperm from just one mating.

They can have up to 7 pregnancies without a male, but usually the number of fry goes down each pregnancy.

Mollies can be pregnant for 4-6 weeks. Depends on number of fry, size of the female, age of the female...etc.

And I don't understand the last question...sorry. :*)

And also, maybe next time you should start your own thread with questions...I don't know how shuhu feels about asking questions in her thread.

wow

I thought they could get pregnant like every 4 months or so, but not soooooooo fast, maybe the idea I had before should be a must... I wanted to have like 3 more males with different color morphs and move the female to a different tank, that way I won't have problems trying to find a home for all of the babies, I still got half the fry without a future home :/

thanks for your replies, and no, I don't mind about "clueless???" asking question here, but sometimes it's better to start a new topic just to get people to actually answer your own doubts if its a large topic, right?? :p
