My molly looks like shes gonna burst!!

My Molly seems to have been pregnant for ages. she is absolutely massive!!
The gravid spot is huge. Ive been watching her closely for weeks but shes still not showing any signs of having the fry yet. i thought it only takes a month or so???

It should... at 78 F.

She should be due soon. Don't move her now because she'll have a miscarriage. She seems to be heavily laden, so be prepared for a huge batch of fry.

huge as in ? how many could she have? my other molly had 9 and 7 survived and are doing well.

Mollies can sometimes go on for over 6 weeks. The number of fry usually depends on the age and size of the Mom and i have seen broods over 90 strong. So good luck to you, Mom and the fry

Hey Day dreams. Just saw your post. Well here goes.. I lowered the temp in my tank from 84 to 72 in the week and all Four of balloon mollies gave birth. I counted last night how many one balloon had and she 60 fry.. 2 got eaten. I had 30 fry before the 60. Now i have 90 fry swimming in the nursery tank. Thats not including ones i saved two months ago. Be prepared to have tons of fry. If yah wnat babies I would lower the tank temp gradually to about 74. Watch for a stream of clear (poop) , and watch her female part to see if it engages.. i was a novice a few weeks ago, but now with all my female fish giving birth i can tell when they are ready to let go.. i hope i helped yah good luck!

thanx celestial...yeah that helps loads...ive never heard about the clear poop before...hers is still pinky-brown but i'll know now what to look out for. thanx again
