My Little Man :)

So I had contacted a nearby cat shelter about 2 months ago and they had told me of the oriental cat they had handed in because she was pregnant (really irritates me how people can be so irresponsible) she had her kittens then abandoned them. She wanted nothing to do with them. The shelters only family run so they are short on staff but the volunteers helped the kittens get stronger. I picked one who was grey and white at the time but has now darkened and turned black and white! He's still the cutest thing ever!!!
Introducing...Apollo

He is only going to be 6 weeks old tomorrow. He is eating solid food - a little bit, a few times a day. He was very reluctant but I mixed some tuna and it encouraged him to eat! I was so relieved! Now my little girl has a companion for the next 15-20 years! Hopefully!

6 weeks, he should still be with mum, do you have a adult cat that can teach him the difference between play and drawing blood, i hate to say this bu often kittens grow up to be quite nasty if they dont have the influence of mum or another cat, dont get me wrong im not being funny but i have been in cat rescue for 20 years and have seen this happen over and over again, he/she is very cute though
also he should be having 4 meals a day of kitten food only and possibly kitten milk to substitute mum

Tell me about it, my parents have bred siamese cats and rottweilers since the 70's (that makes me sound old lol i'm only 30 thats young )
We've always had them. We've had many an orphan. My mum has a female ragdoll. Sapphire.

I have hi - life kitten milk which if you look at the ingredients is goats milk and taurine.
I have the felix kitten food and the go cat kitten 10kg bag of dry food.

Not to knock your experience, but a kitten on it's own doesn't mean it will grow up nasty. 6 weeks is also right at the point where you can ween them. Maybe slightly early, but if she's eating then it should be fine.

I'm so jealous We are going to get a kitten next year after we move. It's costs a lot here and it's stressful to move with too many animals, on us and them

Neither have I. I tend to socialise them with EVERYONE lol. If I had got him before I went to carlisle he would have went with me! He isn't scared of the hoover, the washing machine, the toilet flushing or my little girl charging about like a baby elephant.
I took little man to the nursery this morning he actually started purring! He likes sitting in laps. My little girl is quite wary with cats which is a good thing. She's been told he's the baby now not her, so she has to be gentle with him. He follows us around we need to get a collar small enough to fit him with a bell so we can see where he is!
Hopefully he will grow up well socialised happy and healthy

Aww it's stressful moving as it is-I hate it. I will dread the day I have to move my tank - and it's not even big
The shelter phoned me to tell me he was eating solid food on tuesday and I picked him up on saturday to make sure he was eating constantly. I heard him purr for the first time this morning, it was so cute. I will "de-masculate" my little man when he's about 6 months old.

He has just fell asleep against my leg lol

I know!! we can update them at the same time and see how them grow together! Hows luna getting on? apollo was in his crate when I first got him as it was about 8pm. I just left him so he could settle in. The next day though he was out of his shell, it's like he's been here all the time lol charging about, climbing his scratch post. They are such a joy.

Yeah it's amazing how confident she is I wasn't expecting it at all. She came from a home with lots of kids and dogs/cats and fish too - so she was used to a really busy environment. When we got her home we just opened her crate up right away and she charged out and walked right up to our dog who wasn't totally sure about the whole scenario haha. I think her being so sure of herself made the introduction go over smoothly. She's settled in like she's been there her whole life, just like you said about Apollo - I'm so pleasantly surprised! She's taken to the litter tray perfectly as well, no accidents!

He's the same, using his litter tray with no problems. It's amazing how quickly they adapt. He came from the shelter-4 or 5 staff at a time if you're lucky. It wasn't ideal but now he's getting used to being around fish-he's never noticed them but no doubt once the exploring period is gone-he will lol and of course the baby elephant who is my child who has never had to be gentle with anything before. Her dad who was against the idea of getting a cat (he doesn't like anything with fur, scales or paws) even thinks he's cute lol. Everytime he comes in Apollo stalks him haha! He's like i'm the man of the house!
