he's got a swollen side :/

i was doing a h2o change as i normally do, when i noticed looking down from the top of my aquarium that my lionhead's left side (the area connecting his head to his body) looked swollen. i also noticed him just lying at the bottom corners of the aquarium the last few days. noticeably inactive. he just wiggles around from time to time, kinda like he's almost too heavy to swim freely. and he still eats food, just not as much. i actually thought it might've been the h2o conditions, hence the h2o change, but now i'm thinking otherwise.

i don't have the h2o stats, but i'll be sure to test it asap. tho i have added stress coat, stress zyme and salt.

if anyone might have any idea of what it could be, please help! i'd really really appreciate it.. and i know my Lion would too :) thx!

Are the scales standing out on that side? IS there anywhere he might have got stuck? If he is lying on the bottom more then i would suspect a bacterial disease and he might now have dropsy.
How many gallons is the tank and what filter are you using? Also, need to know how you do a tank clean and how often and how much water. Getting your stats is a good idea and we need ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph. Are you using a gravel vac and how deep is the gravel if you use it. For now I would do 70% water changes every day to get the water clean and remove as much bacteria from the gravel.
Epsom salt draws the fluid away from the fish if it is dropsy.

no, the scales don't protrude at all. i've had fish in the past with dropsy and this one doesn't look the same. but just out of curiosity, can dropsy affect just one side? there's no where he really could've struck anything unless he swims sideways. it's a 6.6 gal aquarium with the original power filter. i do a 50% h2o change every 2-3 weeks. i use a gravel vac and the gravel is between 0.5-1 in deep.

H2o stat
PH 6.6
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5.0

is jungle's fungus clear tabs good to use?

thx for your help, black angel!

Its not a fungus, going by the small tank and not enough water changes your fish has a lump that sounds bacterial.
Is there any other fish with him. Fancy goldfish need at least 10 gallons of water when small and eventually at least 30 gallons with an extra 10 gallons per extra fish.

You need to do water changes of 50% each day with gravel vacs to try and get the bad bacteria under control. As for the lump are you in the states as you can get metromeds to feed him

Lion is roomies with Pepper Jack. sounds like i really lack the space :/

and yes, i am in the states. what are metromeds? is that the name? i'll look for some.

i thought photos might be of help: 1) at a stop. 2) back side. 3) face side.
