Ok... There is a smallish round thing that goes in the middle side by the light. It looks like a huge fuse or something. It was really loose, and I tightened it. Then my light started blinking and quit working.

What is it, and can I get another one? If so where?

Thanks :good:

I took it out and it says...
FS-22 H
starter
37
4...22W
110V/130V-single
220V/240V-series
FS-22 H
974C
UL SA
listed LR65B2

That is the stuff written around it.
What does all that mean in terms of my light, and maybe what I can use?
Thanks!

thats the starter if you take it out and turn it on it work work if its in it will work unless its broke/blown

im not sure why you light is blinking though

you can get one from a hardware store etc just take it in and ask if they have one

you cant use anything else and all the wrigthing is technecal (spelling) stuff just make sure your new one says 4...22W as thats what its rated to

hope it makes sence

I have called the hardware store and they have nothing like it. What else can I try? Do any pet supply places cary them?
I looked on foster & smith and couldn't find one either. I may not be looking in the right place though.
Have any of you found any anywhere? They must have them somewhere.
Thanks :good:

hmm there very common here over in england

is this what they look like (just making sure its what your talking about. im 99.9% it is)

im sure one of the pet stores will have one i thought walmart would but i cant see it on there website as its used in the house on fluorescent lights

Its a fluorescent light starter and virtually all hardware stores will sell them.

They should be quite loose. you just turn them 90 degrees to hook them in but if you touch them they will wobble. You may have damages the connecetors by trying to tighten it.

I found some, but the choice is fs 2 or fs 4 on most of them. Mine says fs 22 H. I did find a fs 25 finally. That was as close as I could get. They said it should work so I got it. It did work. Will it hurt anything. I have a 20w bulb in it. ( 30" all glass delux hood)
Thanks :good:

on your old one it said "4...22W"

what does it say on the new one?

as this will tell me/you if its suitable

Maybe differnt in the US doubt it cos they're probs all made in the far east but ours are normally all the same and say 4-65watt on them (There are some that put individual wattages on them to sell for more)

As long as it has the same light connectors as yours i.e. the GU10 style pins then it should work.

yep i know but on the list that was posted it stated an odd(ish) number (4...22W) as you said over here it says 4-65 and im 99% sure you can get bigger ones

was just checking that it was correct in saying it will be fine

It says FS-25 25W
That is all. It does make the light come on, but I don't want to mess up the light. I want to make sure it is safe.
Thanks :good:
