okay, a couple of days ago I got my first tank, a 29 gallon starter kit (Length:30" Height: 18" Width: 12") and i was wondering what you guys think about the stocking that I have planned for it, here it is:

2 Bolivian Rams (1m,f) (Microgeophagus Altisinosa)
6 Corydoras Trilineatus (3m, 3f)
3 Cherry Barbs (1m,2f) (Barbus Titteya)
6 Kuhli Loaches (Pangio Kuhli)
1 Dwarf Gourami (Colisa Lalia)

And I was wondering, could I keep and Angelfish (Pterophlum Scalare) in there also? or maybe 6 Harlequin Rasboras? or maybe 4-5 five-banded barbs (Barbus Pentazona)? or will my tank be stocked with the fish I plan to have in there already? I want to breed the Bolivian Rams or the Corys a little bit later, I have a 10 gallon for the fry, but I will eventually have to move them up to something bigger, so they can grow out (Im still thinking about not breeding them though).

What do you guys think?

Thanks :D

That sure is quite a few bottom dwellers. Are you going planted?

What kind of corys are you wanting?

Personally, I would cut the Cory and Kuhli population in half and think about a few small schools. Harlequin Rasboras are nice. I have a school of 6 and they look good with plants and a black background. Their colors REALLY show. I also have a school of 6 neons. The rasboras and neons get along well and the contrast in color really makes the tank look alive.

Don't know about Rams as I've never kept them

What about I just cut the Khulis out? Oh yes and I also forgot to add one more fish the stocking list: A Dwarf Gourami

About the Corys, they are Corydoras Trilineatus, I dont know their Common name, but they are mistaken for Julii Corys very often

I was going to say that but didn't know if you had a fondness for them. They are kinda neat.

You just have to remember where the fish are going to hang out. I try to keep a balance between bottom, middle, and top of the tank.

Corys and such for the bottom (although they do swim around)

Rasboras and neons for the middle.

Male CT betta at the top........Gouramis may fit here....not 100% sure

hmm..I dont like neons that much, but I guess I'll go with the rasboras they're pretty cool. I still feel bad for taking out the Khulis though, they look like great fish!

I am trying to keep a balance, but it is hard, I like the bottom feeders!

IMO you would only be able to fit 1 or 2 more tiny fish in your tank, I think that angels would grow to big and eventually over crowd your tank.
