hello everyone my last neon is still going lol but looking @ him last nte i noticed his colour its not blue and his wee red bit isnt there no more could my fish be sick or something....

yes a loss of colour is a sure sign of stress or illness

what are your current stats for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate

how big is the tank

what other fish does it contain

how long has it been set up for

thank you for the quick reply miss wiggle some of my fish have died on us and the neon i have is the last fish i have.
i dont no what the ph levels are for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate as i dont have a kit:( how much do they cost.

my tank is a 2 foot one with various ornaments inside it 2 castles and a wee abit of plastic weeding which is in front of the grills of the filter. to stop fish gettin sucked in... im sorry i cant provde any otther info on the tank...

your tank is probably cycling, read the link in my sig 'what's cycling?' it should explain and tell you what to do.

if your in the UK i'd reocmmend the API fresh water master test kit, it's around £18

How long has the tank been set up.
How many fish and which type.

its been setup for a while now the temp is in between 27 80 and 30 82 is the right temp?
as i have said ive only one neon left in there now. ive being doing water changes for the last 2 days 2 bottles and 2 bottles back in.

what size of tank is it?

neons like the lower range of temperatures so i would guess that high temperature wouldn't help much

I agree with Miss Wiggle. Your tank was probably still cycling along with the fact that Neons are dreadfully flakey and prone to dying, especially in new tanks. Not a good starter fish. The API Freshwater Master Test Kit is also a good investment when setting up a new tank.

My advice:

1. Donate that neon to a friend or your LFS.
2. Read up on Fishless cycling from the link in my sig.
3. Follow the Add & Wait method and get going ASAP as you probably still have some useful bacteria in your filter at the moment but it won't last.
4. While youre cycling make a new plan for re stocking your tank and post it on here so we can comment.
5. Once you complete your fishless cycle, fully stock your tank over a few days.

:good:

ps if you choose to get all sentimental over your last neon and keep it, it will make re stocking and cycling your tank a whole lot more difficult. It is still do-able in this situation but just more involving and time consuming + if you give it away you could always ask for it back once youre done.

i dont no anyone with a tank to be honest at thei point im starting to think that keeping this tank is a good idea now all this stuff people have suggusted is very hard for me to follow to be honest...
but thank you all for yur kind replys ........
