Hey ive had my Lab for a couple of weeks I have noticed that his bum is coming out I have feed her/him regular cichlid pellets does anyone know what this could be?

are yu sure that he may not be a she, i have seen this when my females have spawned

No im not I have one male and a female but not sure if that is her. I havent seen any males about her trying to "pick her" up I have noticed that they are scraping themself of the glass and rocks on occassion is that them having an itch.

What do you mean by his "bum is coming out"? Any chance of pictures?

And the scraping you're seeing is a natural behavior among mbuna, it's either and aggressive motion, part of their mating dance, or just because they're bored. Unless they flick constantly, it's nothing to worry about.
