hi there im new here!

i just need a few questions answering on kribs. I have two kribs (male and female). i think that they've paired up because they chase each other, they shake at each other, which the female goes really colourful. they seem to hang around a shell which i have put in.(its pretty good for a cave).they go in and out. do you think that they are breeding?. plus all together how long does it usually take for them from showing off till they have fry? i really hope you can help as i want to breed them and they are fantastic fish to have.

thanks again!

if they are goin to breed, cichlids breed on average around once a month. What ph is your water? It needs to be fairly soft to neutral for them to breed. If you do get them to breed I congratulate you as when I had a pair of kribensis they didn't breed, but killed each other instead.

I wouldn't worry too much about water. I've bred them in very hard alkaline water (not quite malawi - but still hard.)

wait a while - they are doing all the right things - you'll probably just see them swimming with a shoal of fry.

Give them some good and varied foods - whiteworms (or very small redworms maybe) - daphnia etc.

they should breed soon!

good luck
