Hey all

It's been awhile. I just got back from college have just bred. They have bred on the gravel under a piece of wood, not on a rock like I thought they would. My male seems really skittish and freaks out everytime I come into the room. But, the female is doing a magnificent job taking care of the eggs.
Have any of you noticed your keyholes are skittish even though the there are tetras in the open?
I will keep you up dated

He's probably being more jumpy due to the eggs and is unuse to the movement in the room if you have been away. Congrats on the eggs, hope they survive and you get some wrigglers.

I think minxfishy hit that one on the head. If you haven't been in the room for a while the fish will be freaking out because there is a strange shape moving around outside the tank.
You can overcome the problem by having a small fan running in the room. Tie some lengths of ribbon to the fan cover and they will wave about when the fan is on. Have the fan on a timer so it is on during the day when you aren't there. And have it oscillating (moving left to right and back again).

Yeah thabks for the advice on the keyholes. Now they aren"t as jumpy but the male is always scared of me until I give hime food :D. The eggs just hatched into wigglers this morning! I'm excited. They are doing a fabulous job protecting them. I'll post pictures soon.
