I came up with the idea for a 20 gallon tank. The fuge is gonna be 10 gallons. This seems pretty simple and easy and looks like it can work pretty well without flooding. Im pretty sure your going to need a 350gph power head/ pump to pull the water up into the display tank. The water is then returned to the fuge by means of gravity. The type of PVC piping needed may vary from power head to power head. If the power head is too fast for the gravity fed tube, i drilled a hole in the pvc about an inch below the water line on the tube with the power head. This eliminates the display tank flooding because when it reaches that level, its suction is cut off and will return when the gravity fed tube has a chance to fill the fuge. Vice versa for the gravity fed tube and in case of a power outtage. What do you think? Any suggestions?(Trying to get a picture, just not working)

take the head into account when chosing a powerhead. a 350lph powehead will probably lose 50% at 1 meter.

Also the hole may cause you problems as the water is going to take the route of least resistance so may end up not going anywhere and circling around your fudge.

IIRC 22mm pipe can handle 600gph. So depending on what size pipe you go for your going to need one hell of a big powerhead pumping back up for the main tank to overflow. Its more likely to overlfow the other way, if the pump stops working in a powercut you need to know you have enough room to allow for the extra water that will flow down and not be returned
