A couple of weeks ago I posted about my female guppy, who was aborting her fry+ passing long white
?worms+ swimming with a seriously bent back.
I stuck her in the hospital tank and treated her, hoping to contain the infection and ameliorate her last hours.
Well, her last hours turned into days, turned into weeks- and she is looking perkier and perkier. Explores her tank very happily and comes up to beg for food and eat out of my hand (usually regarded as a sign of intelligence in bettas and cichlids, but in the humble guppy more generally referred to as greed).
I have realised that I am no longer running a casualty department in my office, nor even a hospice for the terminally ill, so I added some gravel and got a nice selection of plants: it now looks a very desirable convalescent home indeed.
I don't believe she is cured, in the sense of not having any parasites, but she is in remission, and looks like she might be able to carry on living.
Having read a bit about worms in the last few days, I've come to the conclusion fish are like humans, they get lots of different parasites, some are lethal, some you can live with without knowing you've got them, and some are in-between: they weaken you but they don't kill you. I will just have to wait to see what hers turn out like.
Anyway, she's good company in the office, just like having a betta (except I think she looks prettier). I'll keep you updated.

thats a great ending to a bit of a sad story, well at least i hope its the end and she dont suffer any more.i bet shes loving the new home you have made for her.
