I got my heater - yey just now need my filter to come then can get to cycling my tank

Now on the box it says fully submersible - this may sound silly but does that mean the whole thing just leabving the wire coming out of the water? or just the glass part of it?

also will it affect it any to have it on an angle because my tanks only 9in high so not tall enough really for the heater to be upright

Most people prefer to put them at an angle it disperses (sp?) the heat better. And yes, it can all go underwater but the plug.

Submerge the whole thing. This is compulsory for many heaters, although some heaters have a mark showing how much is allowed to be sticking out of the water.

Make sure that when you do water changes you don't expose any part (or any part not allowed to be exposed) of the heater, unless you've turned it off first (in which case I suggest you turn it off 10 min before you water change, and on again 10 min after).

Thanks guys - get a bit funny where water and wires are concerned lol

Instructions did say trn off 15min before water changes etc :)

Can't wait to get me a fish :D

I asked this same question once some time back, im still not 100% sure with my heater. Mine didnt come with mcuh detail at all and didnt say fully submrgable, but when I asked the shop and members on other forums they said yes and to submerge it. I then spotted on the box in red biggeish writing "fully submergable" (how the hell i missed that i will never know as I checked about 20 times lol. What really gets me is on the leaflet inside which doesnt say that much about the heater it does say "caution, Do not switch the heater on until the water in your aqaurium is up to the maximum water line" Lol how confusing is that.

Anyway I completly submerged it as said and its ok. Im like you and really worry about electrical stuff.

Glad you figured it out. Better to be safe, make sure your heater is alway submerged when plugged in. Scott
