MY GUPPYS TAIL FIN WHERE IS IT!!!

hello,

I have noticed today that my male fantail guppy has half its tail fin missing, i really am baffeled! I have now separated it into a breeding tank but does anyone know what might happen.

What other fish do you have in the tank? What are the water params? Did this just happen, or has it been slowly getting shorter?

What I would do, since he is in the Breeding tank, is be sure he has sparkly clean water all the time, add a little salt in, and maybe some Melafix if you want. I've never found it to do much, but it's up to you.

it seems like he was bit. if there were other males in the tank and the male/female ratio wasn't right that could explain everything but just in case take the advice anna put on

I was researching this and it could be a tail rot caused by infections. you can use normal meds to treat this.

1st of all did this happen overnight
does it look fluffy in any way?plz describe the wound if you can.

Does it look like it has been ripped off?

i think one of the other makes bit it off.It happened to my guppy halftail RIP and he recpvered very well and witin a month it had grew back

I would just watch the tank from a distance to be sure. the fish can't see you from afar and act as if you weren't watching. then you could be sure what it is.

i agree with blitztidus, watch it from a distance and see if anything is biting it. If this has happened overnight then i think that it is unlikely that it is finrot as it does not usually occur this quickly.

I had to do the same with my fish. I found out it was the smallest fish in there.
