Hi,
About two months ago I treated one of my female guppys for columnaris. While she was sick I coudl've sworn she was on the brink of death but I she put on quite a fight and miracleously recovered. Little by little she regained her strenght until she could swim with all the others.
She's been acting normal, eating well, swimming well, but during the illness she had these little lump-like formations especially visible from above. She's not ill anymore (at least she doesn't look it!) but the places where the lumps were are now deformed.

I was watching her today sideways and her spine is totally curved!!

My question is: Is this dangerous for her? and Should I do something or leave her be?
As I said so far she seems ok, except for the deformed back. She looks like a little aquatic quasimodo! :alien:

I had an outbreak of columnaris a few months back and Spottie, my red painted swordtail female was one of the few survivors. She had a patch of fuzz that went across her back right in front of her top fin (which from what I've read is pretty common) and when the fuzz finally cleared up she looked like someone had taken a bite out of her back and the front half of her top fin. It's never grown back and looks pretty ugly. It makes her look like her spine is bent and her fin clamped all the time (it's not, it's just half missing). But, she swims just fine and has had 3 batches of babies since then and is the biggest female in the tank. (So even though she looks pretty homely now she still gets plenty of dates with the male swordies!)

I don't think there's really much of anything you can do about it unless you know a fishie chiropracter or orthopedic surgeon. :D

i think these effects are irreversible and your fish would have it al their life.
