My Green Terror Breeding Project

Hi I just started my Green Terror breeding project today the pair that i create is going to be housed in my 4ftx2ftx1.5 ft bow front tank running 2 large mature external filters.

The tank is bare bottom with no decor at the mo...i took everything out while i decide what to do...plus i had to take out the aragonite and do big water changes to drop the PH back down to neutral from the 8.2 my Mbunas where being kept in.

The current stock is left over from my Mbuna tank...it consists of

5 x Labidochromis caeruleus (Yellow Labs)
1 x Archocentrus nigrofasciatus (Female Convict Cichlid)
1 x Clown Loach
1 x Bristlenose Plec

These guys will be used as 'tank fillers' until pairs start forming and getting 'down to business'

I swapped in the rest of my remaining Mbuna today which was 2 x Socolofi,1 x Cobalt Blue Zebra,1 x Bumblebee/Crabro, Elongatus Mpanga, Kingseizi and a large male Red Jewel Cichlid (i know he wasent a Mbuna).

In exchange he gave me 1 x Male and 3 x Female Green Terrors (Andinoacara sp. Gold Saum)....although 2 of the females appear to be Silver Saums.

I Also ordered a further 5 Green Terrors from Ebay just to make sure i get a True pair...and a few pairs to sell on.

The guy in watermarque also through in a free Green Texas Cichlid Juvi he couldn't sell...so i'm gonna keep him for a bit then sell him on when needs must.

So my stock is

9 x Green Terrors (Gold Saum + 2 x Silver Saum)
5 x Yellow Labs
1 x Convict
1 x Texas Cichlid
1 x Clown Loach
1 x Bristlenose

With all the latter to be sold on at some point.

Any advice on breeding GT's will be great...heres my pictures of day 1...soz bout the quality.

Update

Decided to cancel my bid on Ebay and just get more females locally if i need them, i think i will do ok with what i already have.

So my stock is

4 x Green Terrors (1 x Male,3 x Female)

Gonna see how that goes for now.

Main reason i cancelled my bid is because my current GT's are 3-4" and the ones he is selling as 1" are actually fry and will get eaten!!

Just added 2 more Green Terrors today...1 of which is a definite male.

So currently have

4 x Gold Saums (1 x Male,3 x Female)
2 x Silver Saums (2 females)
1 x Convict male
1 x Texas female
1 x Clown Loach
1 x Bristlenose.

The tank has loads of space so i'm hoping i can have my texas for quite a while

I'm also hoping to get a Gold Saum x Silver Saum pair because i think it will look more interesting as wet pets and they will be more 'individual'

Alot of people won't agree with it as they class it as hybrisisation blah blah but i'm not to bothered (plus alot of people think they are colour morphs of the same fish...considering they are identical in everyway except ones gold and ones silver)

Given up on this idea...the fishes violence towards eachother got so bad that i kept one and removed the others.

I must admit when I read about you having 6 GTs in one tank I thought One's more than enough I think!

If you want a compatible pair for L/T, it's often the best method to let them pick their own partners from juvie. Although it is painful as some inevitably perish.

Oh, I agree that's the best method to try and get a pair, but was wincing at the disagreements that could happen with 6 terrors
