More info on your situation would be useful in finding out whats gone wrong with your goldie;
a. How many gallons/litres is his tank? Does it have filtration? What is the current temp in the tank?
b. Do you keep him with any other fish/inhabitants, and if so, what and how many?
c. What do you feed him on average and how much?
d. Have you tested the water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates, and if so, do you have any recents results for these?

I believe it is a 20. yes it has filtration, the current temp is: hold on im going to get it now along with the other tests will put in another post.

4 goldies

c. What do you feed him on average and how much?

Flake food and a finger full

It is a tank my neighbor gave me and i just set it up yesturday so could that be the prob?

umm.. a 20 gallon is not enough room for four goldfish or four goldfish is too many for a 20 gallon, how ever you want to look at it. a 20 gallon it is barely enough for 2 young goldfish, when they are older each goldfish needs atleast 15 gallons. your filtration should be 10+ cycles per hour if it is a smaller tank. Goldfish are very fast growing fish and when they are givin room and food they can get huge. take bruce for example.. he is the worlds largest red Oranda.. though he is not the biggiest by much. And althoguh goldfish are sterotypically supposed to be in goldfish bowls and only live 1 year.. that is wrong! fis bowls and the newly redesigned fishbow (the bio-sphere) are goldfish death traps/torture rooms! you should take 2 fish back (if not all) and let the tank cycle. If you do not want to.. please do us all a favor (as well as your fish) and go buy a back of bio-spira and dumb it in. that will instantly cycle your tank and help the poor guys.

If that is the case then why do you appear not to realise that setting up a tank then dumping in four incredibly high ammonia producing goldfish will leave all poisoned and probably a few dead? There's nothing you can do bar keep the ammonia and nitrite at 0 and hope for the best.

whats the point in coming on for advice and saying i know to it. you obviously dont know if you put 4 goldfish into 20gs when it isnt even cycled and then ask what the problem is.
