about a week ago, i noticed a scale out of place on my Goldfish. a few days later, another scale came out of place right next to that one! the 2 scales are still sticking to him. the scale that came out first has a white-ish thick tip now. could it be infected? what can i do to treat it? i really don't know what's wrong w/ him  please help me help my fish!

hi can you get a picture of the scales that are lifted please
and a bit of info on the tank and filter, how long has it been set up size that kind of stuff
what is the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels are they ok?
have you seen you fish rubbing itself?

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Scales can come off by fighting, knocking them off on onjects in the tank.
Lifted scales can be dropsy, parasites, lumps underneath that are lifting the scales.
White edging to scales can be columnaris.

hows the fish doing? sometimes when fish grow you can see the scales come off as the new one grows underneath. maybe this is the case, maybe not but we need to know the environment the fish is in and water stats are vital

ive had it before with lion heads and fancy's they get too fat too quick and the scales cant keep up so they stick out a bit like the pearlscale goldfish try slowing the feeding down and not as much for a couple of weeks and see if that makes a differance it did with mine but don't rule out what wilder has said get the relavant checks done first for what wilder has said and check the water perameters

You should try antibiotics, tetracycline mixed with some kinds of antifungal.
