Hi, I have just found more eggs from my golden bristlies again. This is the 3rd time in 3 months they have bred. I will move him later as there are some clowns in my community tank and they won't last. I need to do a water change tonight so I'll move him then. He's in a barnicle well hidden behind some plants, I went looking for him this morning as I hadn't seen him for a few days. I'm going to give my bristlies a tank of their own so they can breed till there hearts content.
I love it when I find eggs :D

It might be a good idea to separate them as if you just let them breed constantly, firstly you'll be over run with fry and maybe not beblae to keep them or get rid of them.

plus the female will get so worn out, as the aquarium is a controlled enviroment it's constantly breeding season for them, where as in the wild the weather would go through different changes leaving only some good times for breeding.

In short your female getting busy all the time may lead to an early death.

Congrats on getting them to breed so readily though.

I know what you mean about being overrun, I do have someone to take the babies. Surely she will only breed if she wants too. I do remove him for a while when they have had eggs and put him back in after a couple of weeks. I'm getting a bigger tank for my cichlids and my community fish will go in my 240 and then the bristlies can go into the 180. It will be easier to remove her from the 180 than to keep moving him with the eggs. I would take her out for a while every so often, as I don't think its good for him either to keep looking after eggs as he doesn't eat whilst he looks after them. They won't be able to have their own tank for at least 2 months as I'm finishing off my extension on my house at the moment so he will be away from her until they are in their own tank.
Thanks
Julie
