My German Blue Rams are acting starnge.

I dont Know why I have hade them for A little while now but two of them are acting strange, I dont Know why it is A 70 lit tank plants around the tank
driftwood and stones and space for them to swiming in the middle.
IVE looked and the tanks the size is ok theres room to swim hidding places.

Dont No probley wrong have two ideas........

Idea One: Could possible be breeding After all I have 5 One of these is Male and the other 4 are female. The Two which are acting strange are The male and one of the female they are following each other around. I have seen on the web that they do get in to pairs and stay in them for life. If so how do I Know. And they will get teratoril.

Idea Two: Not any room in the tank but Its got lots of room and is A okay size for them and hidding places.

Pleace some one help me it may be nothing.

Not to be rude or anything, but what you wrote is rather hard to follow, theres a bunch of spelling and grammar errors along with parts that just really don't make a lot of sense. From your second post I gather that two of the Rams, a male and a female, are chasing each other around wanting nothing to do with the others? If that is right, I would assume that they have paired up with eachother. This doesn't nescesarily mean that they are breeding, but they have became a pair, kinda like a boyfriend and girlfriend.

This is all you actually say about the fish so if you want any help try being more specific and dont follow your post with a rude one telling people who are trying to help to read your post

i have to agree, when you're asking for help or a diagnosis of a problem over the internet you have to give us as much information as is possible, we need a full detailed description of what's going on, details of what else is in the tank, a picture if possible, water test results, bit of background how long the tank has been running etc.

If people ask you questions it is only so that they can give you a more accurate answer.

Well struggling through the grammar like everyone else... it does sound like they have paired. Besides swimming together, if you see the two lip-locking and cleaning off a flat surface or digging out a pit into the substrate, this most likely means they will be laying eggs. All of those things are typical cichlid mating behavior. That being said, the other seven need to be rehomed. A 70liter tank is far too small for these 9 fish even without the breeding pair.

Rams are cichlids and they are territorial. Dwarf species, such as the rams, are considered easy going and peaceful compared to their larger cousins but they are still cichlids and will battle for territory in your tank. When they breed, they will get even more boistorous because they will protect their eggs and fry... so if they do lay eggs, you may end up with a couple of the other rams severly hurt or even dead if they can't get away because of the small volume of the tank.

So.... rehome the other 7 before things get bad

Ox :good:
