I need some help and advice quickly plz...

My african clawed frog cant swim properly and seems to have blood in its eye..

Does anybody know whats wrong with it or if theres anything i can buy for it ??

PLZ HELP ME

Can you give us any more info? Can it swim at all, is it floating? How big is the tank, what kind of set up is it in, etc

It isnt floating it is still sitting on the gravel at the bottom but does end up lying on its back when its tried to swim.. it seems to be struggling using its legs to swim ? they seem limp and the back ones sometimes get crossed over when he tries ? it is a 125 litre tank so there is plenty of room for it and it has ben fine up until yesterday, its eye seems like a blood vessel has burst but with it not swimming either its very worrying.. any suggestons ?

whats in the tank with it? i'd guess something has attacked it, maybe tried to eat its eyes
what are the water parameters? if it hasn't been attacked then it is very likely that it is due to a bacterial infection caused poor water quality
clean water and a small dose of aquarium salt is probably the frogs only potential treatment

theres nothing in the tank that i believe would have attacked it i have - 1 siamese fighter, 2 female and 1 male guppy, a plec and the frog ??

is the aquarium salt expensive and how much do i put in ??

do you think this explains the problem with swimming also ?

Sounds to me like it got nipped at. Aquarium salt is not expensive 6 tbsp is about how much you should put in. The swimming could also if its legs were attacked.

If the frog is unable to swim and get to the top for air then you will need to rehome him temporarily into a shallower tank as soon as you can, one that he only has to swim a few inches for air, otherwise he will die. Even healthy frogs struggle to reach the top of a regular 15" height tank and need several attempts before they manage to do it and fill their lungs with air. So a sick frog needs a bit of a helping hand.

ps - fish can/will nip at a frog if they are both aiming for the same piece of food!
