My Fishes Spit Food Out

If they are new fish they may be used to a different type of food - you could ask the fish shop you got them from what they feed and if you can or want to match it then try that.
But mine have always adapted to eating flake foods.

But saying that, my tanks have off days when they all chew it up and spit it out - just a fussy day I guess - then about 10mins later they all pick up the crumbs from the floor - lol

no i;ve had them for almost 2 years now.
I just bought a new fish about 4 days ago which started it, and now every fish is doing it. Talk about a bad influence.. --__--

Can also be a sign of flukes so check the gills over to see if there pale with excess mucas on them, or red and inflamed.
Anys signs of flicking and rubbing.
Or same as been said a different brand of food there not used to.

If you just added a fish then is possible it fetched flukes in the tank.

I doubt this is the case, but fish can't shew so they spit out items and put them back into their mouths until they're small enough to eat. Do they eventually eat it?

thanks for the links.

Well, they eat some of the flakes later on cuz how else would they manage to poop out every now and then.

I've fed them worms today and they ate those with no problem.
The only thing that comes to my mind are the flakes. My flakes are a bit old (2 1/2 years to be exact) but i really didnt think this would matter cuz i know that the expiry date are just ways of for the companies to keep consumers buy their products. There is no way in hell you can finish that box of flakes in a couple of months.
They say all the vitamins and other minerals are supposed to degrade after the expiary date, but hell, i know for a fact that there is trace amount of such minerals in $9.99 box. And those vitamins started to degrade as soon as the plants and organisms that is needed to make flakes die. So even before packaging they are partially distoryed anyways. I know this for fact because one of my friend works on analysis of different products. And the minerals in the flakes are in no amount that can actually help, but still is there so that companies can advertise. It only takes them 50cents to make 200g fishfood.

lol so yea. there was a bit of food for thought.

But i am still dumb enough to not know what the hell the fishes are doing. Should i starve them and make them think about fishes in africa??

It sounds odd to me, you fetched a new fish in and they never did it before, I would keep an eye on them to be honest.

Fish are going to jump on food by nature, even when not really hungry. Maybe it's constipation. By instinct, they jump on food, but don't really want to eat it. Feed some peas to see if it relieves any constipation. Microwave some frozen peas, let the cool a bit, remove the skins, smoosh em up to a size your fish can eat, and watch them eat and then poo.
