Well it looks like I matched my fish color wise a little too perfectly. I have 4 pearl gouramis (silver, orange color) 10 Pearly Rasboras (orange color) and 8 diamond tetras (silver color) in my 55 gallon. It just looks like a blur of the same colors :/ It wouldn't be so bad if the shoaling fish actually shoaled tightly LOL but no they must feel so comfortable that they all shoal loosely.

I'm not sure if I have room to add another type of shaoling fish though? Do neons/cardinals shoal tightly? Are they more bottom fish? My diamonds and rasboras are more up at the top with the gouramis.

My neons don't shoal particularly tightly, and stay mostly toward the bottom of the tank. I imagine cardnials do pretty much the same though.

I've already got platies in another tank ..and they come from a breeder who uses salt so I cant keep them in the 55 gallon.

I'd like another type of shoaling fish..something small..maybe only 5-6 of them. Something really bright that'll break up my orange and silver color scheme thats going on :p

blue tetras (Boehlkea fredcochui)? Columbian Blue Tetras (Hyphessobrycon columbianus)? Royal Black Emperor Tetra (Nematobrycon palmeri)?

Thanks everyone for your help!! I actually ended up buying a pair of german blue rams today  They are adding some blue to the tank :D I still want to get some dwarf neon rainbows but not sure if I can fit them. I've made a new post asking just that :p
