I'm not really sure whats wrong with all 6 of my platties (4fem2male). They all look kinda fuzzy like there are little woolies all over them. and to top it off i just found at least 15 babies in there as well!!!!!!!!

I don't know if it's ich/whitespot or velvet. does anyone have a pic of these so i can figure out what to do.
i won't have a other tank set up for the babies until at least tomorrow (its cycled but housing fish for a friend) plus i guess whatever the grownups have the babies have too right? i can't see anything but they are really tiny. :shout:

please help i don't want them to die i can't afford to get anymore and i really love these little guys. :/ :(

just got up. 3 platies dead. 3 left, all babies still look ok

what do i do?????????????

it sounds like colomnaris (sp) to me

can you post a pic?

what size is the tank?
what are your stats (ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)?
what fish are in the tank?
have you added any new fish recently?
what is your maintenance routine?
when did you start to see symptoms and how have they developed?

water normal ( i tested)
6 platies 2male4fem
only new fish added were the babies born yesterday 17 to be exact. right now they are in the same tank but i'm on my way to bring fish i was housing for afriend back so i'll havea tank to put them in.

should i treat them when i put them in the new tank? they look really goo for now.

ps all my tanks are cycled, i'm not new to fish keeping just, new to platies.

hmmm can you please post the stats rather than just saying the waters fine

if there is an infection you should treat all the fish in the tank, they may be carrying it but not displaying any symptoms.

i think you should treat with melafix but without proper tank info or a pic it's hard to say for definate what the problem is

melfix won't help a infection i just bought pemifix or whayever its called it says on the bottle to terat cottony growths so i hope it works!!!!!!!

It does sound like columnaris which can wipe out your tank really fast.
What is the temperature?
What other fish do you have?
Its a bacterial infectioon so fungal remedies wont work.
If theres only livebearers in the tank then you can add aquarium salt at 1 level teaspoon a gallon and again 12 hours later.

all adults died. but the babies are ok for now.

my plan is to treat them in the tank for seven days and then go from there. they were exposed so they have to be treated.
