That got me going too....When I worked at PetsMart I would gently bag those little golden algea eaters for people...They NEVER stay in the water!! They always scoot themselves up to the top of the bag so you have to turn it slowly back over so that they are under the water again... 
lol They do it in their tanks too and it kinda frightens me...
