I started off with 9 fish, and I have 3 left. I have a mated pair of clownfish in a ten gallon tank, whom are doing absolutely fine. In my 55 gallon tank, I have a moorish idol. When I got my 55 gallon tank, I had two clowns, a tomato clown, a moorish idol, a long nose butterfly, a hippo tang, and two damsels. Within the past couple of days, all but the mated pair of clowns and moorish idol, had died. Is my 55 gallon tank not done cycling yet? Did the fish get poisoned from the past fish dying? Can someone please help me. I can't let my moorish idol die after all the work I put into these tanks. Thank you!

they are deying because u didnt cycle ur tank take them all back

ur tank is too small for the moorish idle also, and they are hard to take care of

Morrish Idols are unsuitable for the vast majority of home aquaria. As for the deaths, they were likely caused by ammonia build up. Did you notice the fish gasping at the surface, or behaving erratically, as if they were poisoned?

All marine tanks must cycle, or, as Lynden typed, should have fully cured LR which has gone thru it's 'dieoff'. Even then, you'd should be SURE and do several water tests before adding livestock. As all of us know, losing a $1.99 neon tetra is not the same financially as losing a $20-$50 fish.

What are your water parameters?

s.g.
pH
kH
ammonia
nitrate
calcium

SH

PS..if this is your first marine tank, I agree that a Moorish idol is one of the more difficult fish to take care off.
