I have a fairly young mollie, she has a white area around her gills. I treated her with fungus medication for almost a week, then tetracycline for a little over a week and nothing seems to be getting rid of it. It doesnt appear to be getting worse. I do daily water changes on her tank, salt in her water, increased aeration a lot, and the medication. After over 2 weeks i would think something would start to get better. Is there anything else i can do for her, please help!?

It may be columnaris (bacterial/fungal infection) so adding some anti bacterial meds may help- can you get any pics of the fish? Are the gills red/inflamed looking at all?

I know i was told it could be columnaris, and i was told to try tetracycline for it since the fungus medication wasnt working. Neither of them have worked though. I cant get any pics, something is wrong with my camera. But it is a thick white area around the gill they arent red or inflamed looking just white.

How long have you been treating with the tetracycline, could also have a parasite, is the fish isolated.

Read your othr post and you have whitespot too, is the fish on it's own, i would add half a dose of whitespot med in with the tetracycline, but you must increase aeration.

That was another fish that had whitespot. This mollie has only ever had this white around her gill. She is isolated now. I have done the tetracycline for about 8 days i think it is and before that fungus medication for about 7. It almost looks like a thick white slime coming from her gill.

Right i would still add the parasite med, as the tetracycline should be doing something by now, and if you have had whitespot it could of spread, once it get to the gills though it doing its damage.

Look under ich.
