So this has happened a few times. My male swordtail in particular will "bounce" off the plant leaves. I'm not real sure why they do this. Any thoughts?

It's probably down to irritation of the skin. Either your fish might be developing ich (white spot) or something similar, or your water quality has gone downhill recently. Start off by doing a 50% water change today and tomorrow and see if things change. Hopefully its just that you've been a bit lax on water changes and you're getting a build up of toxic chemicals in the water.

As hamfist mentioned, my fish well one at first started to kinda dart sideways onto leaves gravel and wood, it ended up being whitespot

Since treating the whole tank after others showed the white spot exterior salt granual symptom the fish are fine and i also dosed for anti fungus/finrot to be safe

Could be as said playing around, but if it were me knowing what i know now i would dose for ich

If you do see any tiny salt kind of bumps on them then it's ich, i could be wrong without doing a search but the ich starts under the scales (maybe 1st stage) then the salt things appear (maybe stage 2) then after that a stage 3 i thinks, unfortunately i got worried at stage 2, did lose 2 lovely guppies but i replaced those yesterday :)

Sounds like ich to me, the fish are trying to scratch an irritation, ich are parasites that live under the fish scales, the grain of salt they speak off is the hole through which the parasite leaves the fish and goes in search of another host. You can only kill the parasite whilst its out of the fish, so no point in treating until you are sure thats what it is. di
