So i change all the gravel out to sand in my 20 G, I did one half one week and one half the next week. monitored my water and what not, then i started having issues with my filters getting clogged and shutting down for probably quite a few hours at a time, (waking up and there down or coming home from work and again thier down). so i cleaned them out leaving the filter media and bio-wheals in the water while i clean out the pumps and intakes from sand. well after about 3 days of filter failure I knew my water parameters would be a bit off.

it was as follows

nitrite 5 (it may have been higher)
nitrate 160 (it may have been higher)
ammonia 0.25

OMFG (panic sets in)

25% water change that evening, the next morning, the next evening and next morning.

now is as follows :kana:

nitrite 0
ammonia 0
nitrate 60

amazingly no fish loss, diesease or abnormal behavior.

I've got one filter running consistantly for 3 days now, the other shuts down after about 12 hours, I may need to change out air stones. to stop with pushing sand up
