I will be working at this event and I will also have a number of items in the auction. This is a pretty well run auction and there are plenty of fish, plants, equipment and related items that get offered and sold.

I know you'll be selling some fancy bn plecos! Also, plants & equipment? I hope it's well attended. Big club auctions can be lots of fun!

I used to love the "mega auctions" in MA. My general auction idea is to go early for best selection; stay late for bargains...but beware buying unknown fish, lol. I'd never kept killies or knew much about them, but I bought a pretty pair. I also bought 10 cherry shrimp that same auction (same seller I think). Then, big mistake, quarantined them together. They all seemed fine & I soon went off on vacation, another mistake) EEK! I came home to an almost dead female killie (& lost her soon after) & almost half the shrimp were MI. I had lots of plants & hiding places & a pet sitter. I learned a lot that time, lol. The shrimp went on to breed like crazy, I sold or traded many. The killie male live for many months but met his match with, of all things, cherry barbs! Who knew? I certainly didn't. A case of buyer beware!

Auctions are also a nice way to meet & talk to other hobbyists. I'm not too shy anymore; ok,.. not at all shy now (lol), but you can always strike a conversation. Do you know these fish/plants? How do you keep them? We all love to talk about our tanks & fish

I didn't (& still don't) have a smart phone that could have better informed me...but I may have done the same thing anyway...at that time...Lesson learned in a hard way.

But all in all, if you can go to TwoTank's, or any club auction, it'll be an interesting & fun experience. Try it, you'll like it!

BUMP-

Only 9 days until this event.

I am no longer a morning person. I never make appointments earlier than late morning any more. But I need to be there pretty early. So, I need to have everything I am bringing bagged, packed and ready to go soon after I get up.

Shamelss plug for me below if any of you might be in the area.

I will be putting the following into the auction if you are curious:
Anubias, Crypts, a long leaf Hygropolysperma and maybe a few Java ferns.
Super Red Bristlnose youngsters 1.5 inch range- If I can catch them in the 75, the breeding trio.
Potential- albino Bristlnose - not sure if the kids are big enough to sell, I have the parents in different tanks- may try to catch them.
I may bring a bag of RB line super white 236- 3-5 fish which I might make a donation to my club.
I will bring Assassin Sails and the Blue Dream color morph of Neocaridina davidi

There are hard goods, including tanks, auctioned. I have some used AquaClears and an Eheim Pro II 2026 all with new media which I plan to bring as well. All work fine. I have a NIB Eheim 2028 I got and then a change in plans meant I never used. So, I should offer that too, right? :p
I have a bunch of Malaysian driftwood from small to even one huge size. I will bring some of it.
I have used heaters, air pumps, powerheads and water pumps which all work. Some are actually new and never used but out of the box.

I cannot speak to what else might be there but I have been at this auction a few times and there were a lot of nice fish and plants and an assortment of related items. I have a wall clock with fish instead of numbers on from last year's auction.

I wish I could say yes re rare plants. But there is no way to know what sellers will bring. I know if it were just my club auction some of the rare plants do show up at the meetings. But my problem is I have way too many plamnt in my tanks so I rarely pay a lot of ettention to what plants are offered since I never buy any more.

I need to touch base with the Club officers and can ask if there us any early listing of items. I need to see if I can print out a sellers card for my listings. I saw nothing on the club's site, biu I am not on social media so I cannot see anything that might be there.

No, you just need to show up before the start of the auction to submit your items. They all get laid out on tables for viewing. There is also the ability to pay to have some items bumped earlier.

I sent an email to two of the club officers asking it one can DL the auction listing form and to ask about rare plants.

ne can arrive as early as 9:30 to submit items which can be done intil 11:45/ The actual auction starts at noon. Last year I workeed the table where sales slips were submiteed in two copies. One person filed things by seller and the other person filed by buyer. At an earlier auction I did the 50/50 ticket sales. 1.2 the money goes to one lucky winner and the other half to the club. I usually buy $20 worth of tickets but, if one of my numbers wins, I state that if I win I will donate the winings back to the club. So far I have never won.

Thanks for sending sending that email. Let me know what they say.

I heard back re rare plants. The answer is we do not know what people will bring. I know we have one plant guy in the club who always brings plants to the the monthly and sometimes it is something on the unique side of things. But I cannot say what he may bring.

I also got a better version of the form as a pdf.

I am not sure how to link it here as I got it in an email.

Leave the BIDDER NUMBER and Lot#s blank. They will be filled in when on arrives with the items.
The club accepts payments for all items and mails checks to sellers I a week or two.

This has been an annual event for longer than I have been a member. I normally do not sell what I breed at auction. But now since I am downsizing I have a lot of things to sell one way or another. Some of it will go into the auction. The club's cut is decent sourc of revenua. They also take a % at the monthly meeting auctions.

I like to support the club. We have interesting speakers, shop hops, I think they have done collecting trips as well. We did a thing for kids via 4H 2 summers ago.

Got it thanks. I'll have to see if I can come on Sunday. I would like to, but will have to play it by ear.

@TwoTankAmin, I won't be able to make it tomorrow. We have about 6 inches of snow coming here, so I don't want to make the hour drive in those conditions. Please let me know how it goes and whether there were any rare plants :)
