HI, IVE GOT TWO BREAM AND A BARRA. THEY SEEM TO HAVE WHITE SPOTS ON THERE FINS, SOME OF THE SPOTS A COTTON LOOKING WHILE OTHERS ARE LIKE LITTLE PIN PRICKS. THERE FINS ALSO LOOK LIKE THEY ARE ROTTING AWAY. ONE OF MY BREAMS EYES LOOKS REALLY BADLY INFECTED AND MY BARRA KEEPS FLICKING HIS BODY AGAINST THE GRAVEL. IVE TRIED USING WHITE SPOT REMOVER, FIN ROT AND FUNGUS MEDICATION, WATER CHANGES, SALT AND CLEANING THE TANK EVERY 3-4 DAYS. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

CHEERS

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Waer stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

You treat whitespot for another weeks once spots have fallen off.
Did you use both meds together.
The eye can you explain in more detail. Are the eyes bulging out or do you mean there whitespot on the fish eyes.

tanks in liters 150
2 yellowfin bream 1 about 150mm the other is about 100mm
1 barramundi fingerling about 150mm
the ph is about 7
ammonia, nitrite and nitrate im not sure of when i first set up the tank i put about 45ml of amtrite down
to settle down the new tank sydrome
i had the white spot remover in the tank for about 6 days and then i noticed the spots had gone "cotton like"
so i added the fungal remover they were in the tank togher, thats didnt seem to work. so i did some more research and found out salt is another option. ive added about 5 grams of salt per ltr (as instructed by aquarium store) its seem to help the eye a bit better. the eye seems swollen with a milky glaze over it
anything you could think of would be very helpfull

Sounds like the tank is not cycled and the problem stems from the ammonia and nitrites poisoning the fish - you cannot add something that will stop new tank syndrome, it always happens in a newly set up tank unless you can add enough mature media (not magic potion) to cycle the tank.

How long has the tank been set up for?

Cottony sounds like it could be columnaris - can you get a photo? Columnaris is bacterial and would require a very different treatment.

Which parts of the tank are you cleaning? I recommend that you don't touch the filter at all - cleaning it is actually counterproductive while trying to cycle a tank, you will disturb whatever bacteria have developed.

sorry i couldnt get a photo worth showing ( picture was to distorted)
ive had the tank set up for about 3-4 weeks
if it is ammonia and nitrites poisioning the fish how should go about fixing the problem?
if its not the problem will treating them for it harm them?
any help would be great

to remove nitrite and ammonia, do a large water change and add a product like nutrafin cycle to introduce some bacteria.

don't treat the tank till you know for a fact what the problem is.

Do a search on ammonia and nitrite poisoning it will list all the symtoms.
