In my 54 litre i have some platies, they always seem hungry and after foos, however i just brught some new plants and they are hapily demolishing them!, how can i stop them?, could i get one of those clip thingys with lettuce on?

bloody fish!, thanks for your help

platys will pick at algae and will uproot plants, the best thing to do is buy silk plants (which look crap) they dont compare to real plants, or buy some tougher plants, but ive never had problems with platys

k thanks, not going down fake root, if it comes to that i will just get a tonne of rock, they are eating the long grassy, vailis, but they seem to leave all the other plants alone, cambomba, java fern.

lol, not were i come from £1.99, spose it is fairly big tho, all the plants in my area are all the same price, no matter species or size, im planning to fill my one side of my tank with java fern on the floor as i thought about dwarf hairgrass, but thats too expensive if my platies just rip it up, then hopefully next weekend im off to get 10 neons for £3, its an offer at my lfs is it a good deal?, i thought so!

ye its been set up for nearly 4 months, and its uber stable, after adding the ceramic media in my jewel filter, the bacteria colonies must have quadrupled

The simplest way to stop any fish eating anything you don't want them to is to try and offer them something different. Try offering shelled peas or lettuce as an alternative food as you mentioned in the first post.

oh god, get rif of the Cirax! it is a nitrate factory! i put some in and my nitrates increased, but then after removing it they decreased and never went above 20ppm like they did with it.

4 months, i would weight a bit longer, but if this offer is tempory risk it, but you may get a few deaths

wat increase of nitrite!, i have absolutely none, i know it should be about 6 months for neons but i cant wait and wen my water is stable, doing a water change and testing often will keep them alive, just hope i dont have another disease outbreak, like the last time, protozin at the ready!
