My Fish Are Dying

Hi

I cleaned out my tank as normal on Saturday, added some bacteria and water treatment as normal, scooped up the bottom as normal, trimmed the plants as normal.

Came home yesterday afternoon and the water was really cloudy, could barely see the back of the tank. Lots of white stuff over all the plants.

This morning 5 of my danios had died, with my 6th looking likely to follow, and my two swordtails look very lethargic and close to death.

Any ideas on the cause of this?

i`d check the filter. i know when i`ve cleaned mine out ect then it fires out a load of alge thats been growing in the pipes, that often apears white i`m not saying that it could be but its worth looking at

I did give my filter a good clean as it hadn't been as strong as it was, when i turned it back on it didcough out some dirt. But there was literally loads of this white stuff everywhere, much more than could have been in the filter. I've cleaned it all off this morning so hopefully no more fish will die, I really liked my danios!

this has me puzzled, what does the white stuff look like?

Just like dust or dirt.
