As the title states, this is my first tropical tank and as you'll see from the pics it's not finished yet. Trigon 190 (ex shop display) I'm using the built in filter for now but will probably end up getting rid and having an external filter once I figure out what I'm doing!

Okay, so I didn't realise I could only get two photos on the post. OOps! Don't suppose anyone minds me replying to my own post?!
Here's a couple more pics.

Could be a nice tank once youve got it going!

Dont worry about being new and knowing nothing. I was new not too long ago and ive recieve nothing but good help here! Just make sure you read around this forum, you'll pick things up in no time! :)

nice looking tank what wish you planing to have?

I'm assuming you mean 'fish'! Haven't decided yet. I pinched some 5-in-1 test strips off a friend and the kh and gh readings are as high as they come! So it'll have to be fish that can put up with hard water. I need to get out and get a proper test kit! i'm also waiting on more plants. BUt hey, i'm in no rush, still loads of reading to do yet. Everytime I come on here, I learn something new or add something else to my wish list!

Getting your tank planted up soon as possible will help cycle the tank more quickly. My tank was heavily planted from day one and never went through a cycle.

Vallisneria Sp. are a plant that will prefer harder water.

Cheers, Dave.

Whooo same here :hyper: . I got mine (same colour as yours) for £175,and I've not set it up yet, though I have my reasons to believe that my tank is older than the 6 months stated...
One think to watch out for is that the supplied lighting is pretty weak, so make sure you stick to low-light plants. Use the advanced search at http://www.tropica.com/default.asp to make sure you only choose low-light plants (and aquatic ones for that matter, since lfs's very frequently sell non-aquatic ones.
Mine actually came with a fluval 4+ because the juwel filter had broken for the previous owner, and I have upgraded to a fluval 305 external.

I love the corner tanks, wish we had a spare corner in our house to have one! Some gouramis would look gorgeous in there with a nice pleco... IMO :shifty:
