My First Platy Fry!

Sorry, I realize that there are a lot of these threads pertaining to pregnancy. But I was just wondering how far along my girl is. I could swear she was chubbier yesterday.. But anyhow I'm hoping she won't give birth for awhile, after I have time to make a box for the fry.. She's probably a bit slimmer today because today is her fasting day.

I know each fish is different, but could someone more experienced possibly give me an estimate of when she may give birth? Thanks!

They are very cute. Are they as the picture shows that one is much darker than the other? If so that is pretty neat, too.

Yep! One is yellow, one is black. The mother is black and yellow.. ahah

I heard they have multiple pregnancies- so she'll probably have more fry in about 3 weeks, right? I can't miss it this time!

Anyway, I have a question: I'm feeding them Hikari First Bites 3 times a day. Since I only have 2 fry... it's really hard to know how much I should feed them each time. I know you're supposed to feed them "small" meals... but I'm afraid I'm feeding too much T_T' The black one is really chubby.... lol. his stomach is so big! (which is why I think I'm feeding too much..)

Her tail is pointed... I've googled it and it may or may not be fatal? ...... not much information about it

Your frys big belly is just fine. Just clear out left over food after 10 minutes. Someone else on this forum is having the pointed tail issue witha bunch of their platy fry . I hope it turns out just fine.

I feed my fry 6 times a day! They may leave the net at two weeks old at this rate lol. I also clear out the water in the net by raising it and lowering it a couple times gently. It stretches their fins and rids the baby hormone which can slow down fry size growth.

Many report that formalin 3 works if you are cursed with case after case of pintail if water readings are ideal and it not the water.

But to be honest i think it will clear up if you make sure to get new water flowing in the net and make sure old food is out. When adults clamp their fins it is water quality. Although your tank water may be fine, the enclosed net space will raise much faster.

Just take the metal clamps off and raise and lower the net gently a few times and a few times a day and re clamp the net. Even dip a top corner under the water and pull the net to let old top sitting food slide out.

Thanks! They're growing pretty fast. I swear the other day cheese's tail was round/fanned out instead of pointy, but today it's pointy again ... Weird

Here are some terrible pictures because it's hard to take them through the net

Cheese's tail is getting a bit orange-red and her body is a bit brownish now. I hope she'll be ok!

I could make heads or tails of cheese in the first pic so thanks for the repost! The lil #28### is pretty. Too bad it isnt doing so hot. Ninja looks like its maintaining fine tho so that is good.

Yeah unfortunately cheese is behaving very lethargically today. He's just lying on the bottom of the net and clearly having trouble swimming.

Looks like genesis is pregnant again!
