Hi all.
Here in my sig is a picture of my first ever tropical aquarium prior to putting fish in. I am on my 2nd day of ammonia and nitrites reducing to 0 in 12 hours so hopefully another 5 days and it will be ready for my fishies.

I am a complete novice to this and especially with the plant side of things. Are the plants I have put in swords? If so is it normal for some of the leaves to be a little brown when first transplanted as the bright green 3rd from left has some large brown patches on the central leaves. I am hoping it is not dying. I have read that in general the sword plants are quite hardy and will thrive in almost any water.

anyway, i would just like your thoughts on what it looks like and also any ideas for plants that will grow to the surface and spread out to create shade for my planned pentazona barbs.

thanks
paul

Looking good but the plant on the right is non aquatic, it will soon break down and start to rot, best to take it out now m8.
Just noticed it looks like youv,e got 3 of them in there.

someone else has told me these red swords are non-aquatic as well. they will be removed shortly. they may be causing an ammonia spike. annoyed with the shop to say the least.

the bright green amazon sword 3rd from left is doing quite well. think i may get another and some vallis
