Yesterday I saw a little thing on the surface and quickly swam down under a driftwood, it was my first fry, I was very excited :hyper: !!! The female platy must gave birth and I didn't know, she's small so I think that might be her first time too. Now I am hoping that the fry will survive in my tank. I don't have any plants in my tank, only some rocks (those with holes) and a 2 feet driftwood, what is the chance for frys to survive in a community tank?

Awww! congrats! It should survive if it's survived for this long. Make sure under the driftwood is only big enough for the baby :)
If you have rocks then they should be able to fit in between the crevices.
I should have fry in the next few days myself so i'm hoping my water lettuce is here. If not I will take the slate off the pebbles and lay it flat on the sand just big enough gap for tiny babies to fall under :D

Thank you guys, ny82 good luck to yours too :) ! I think that fry might be a few days old already, it was swimming pretty fast from the top to the bottom, didn't look like those fresh born that bounce around. I have guppies, danios, platies, silver dollar and chinese algae eater and my concern is the chinese algae eater because they can get into narrow gaps and they sometimes aggressive. I hope it will continue to survive.

Aww so cute! Keep us updated and get a pic when it's big enough. Is it just the one you found? Maybe some more somewhere?

yeah, there will DEFINITELY be more somewhere if it is livebearer... unless the tankmates fancied trying sushi....

I only saw one, I hope there is more too. I was excited but also scared when I saw the fry, so afraid the other fish would go after it. I was getting out a net to catch it and put it in the breeder tank but it went under the wood so fast. I sat in front of the fish tank for 15 minutes looking for more but only saw it came out the wood and ran in the rock in 3 sec then I was falling asleep, LOL
