hello all i just started my first chiclid tank and have purchased a spieces 44 (christmas)breeding tro, 1 male 2 females i tested my water and the ph is 7.2. Is that good ??? and what other chiclids would anyone recomend or should i not add any more to through off the breeding cycle? My nitrate and amonium are in the good. and is there anything i need to know for chiclid keeping and breeding?

Thankz

What exactly are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate level's? You ph is a little acidic, so either you might want to switch to something liek kribensis that perfer that kinda water, or get a bufffer for the water. What sixe is the tank? Did you cycle it? What is the water temp?

Is this what you have? http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/h_sp44.php

If so, they should be kept in a minimum of 75 gallons, and can be kept with other semi-aggressive haplochromines.

Your PH is a tad on the low side for Lake Malawi, you might consider adding some crushed coral to your filter or using one of the buffer recipes to bring it up a bit (slowly of course).
