Purchased a new 18"x10"x10" tank tonight and i am going to try and breed a pair of bettas.

I have put water in it from my other tank and setup a small box filter and put one of my foam pads out of my other internal filter so the tank wont need cycling will it?

Here is a pic of my first betta (its in the community tank at the moment until someone confirms the new tank is ok to put it in)

Thanks any advice would be great :)

Pics aint great though sorry.

I'd turn off the filter, you won't need one plus the male won't be able to build a bubble nest, also when the fry start leaving the nest they will get sucked into the filter.

You won't need a filter for a little while and I would recommend a sponge filter and not a box filter, you will end up killing the fry.

Something like this -
sponge filter 1

or this one
sponge filter 2

If you can get some Indian almond leaves or black water extract that will help with the water and the male breeding mood (also help keep the bubbles longer).

Do you have a lid on the tank as it will require one to keep in the humidity ?

Its too bad you dont live in the states I would set you up with a nice breeding pair for a very low cost
