My First Betta...

Was actually my boyfriend who wanted an aquarium in the first place, and I spotted this gorgeous boy! So, I have my own tank with the betta and he has his with an assortment
He doesn't seem to be agressive, and is pretty friendly towards us by swimming to the front of the tank if you go up to it etc.

Was wondering if anyone could estimate an age for this guy? I bought him about 6 weeks ago, and his fins were quite small. He's grown a lot now over the last few weeks though.

He certainly is beautiful!
It's quite difficult to guess the age but most lfs sell them from anywhere between 6-12 months old.

he is a veil tail with mottled fins..... should heal in no time if they look torn or are missing strands.... hes a looker for sure..... im jeleous....... good stuff..

Community - Thats what confused me. He looks like a veil tail, but all of his "strands" of fins are seperated like a CT. I don't think there's anything wrong with his fins as far as rips goes.. I'll try to get better pics and post em up later on. It's hard to explain without showing lol.

Any chance he could be a comb tail? It's not a type of finnage apparently, but it affects the fins :

I was trying to use a mirror as someone suggested to get mine to flare so that his fins could be seen properly, but he's not having it. He takes no notice of it.

Thanks! For anyone wondering, I e-mailed a Betta site about him and asked about what he was. He is a Veil-tail with the comb tail effect.
