I was just watching 300 on my computer...and then...my first betta ever (the one with the supposed finrot), started flipping at the corner of my eye...she started going crazy for a good 5-10 seconds...and then...she went lifeless.. im sad ='(

could it be of old age? i got her at LFS after all, which is what im hoping her death was caused by..i tried all i could to make her better, i just don't know what was wrong..

i look at her afterwards to look at any other symptoms besides her deteorating fins and faded color...but nothing was there besides that..

did i do anything wrong? :-(

I am so sorry for the loss of your little girl, at least she went quickly. It sounds like you tried your best and that's all any of us can do is try. Finrot can be a bugger, I've had some that made a complete recovery and some that just deteriorated so fast, nothing I tried helped. It's also hard to determine if it was old age or not, unless we know the breeder than the age is just a guess.
Again I'm sorry for your loss, RIP lil' girlie :byebye:

I'm so sorry for your loss :-( :-( But it does sound like you did all that you could! I'm sure she was grateful for everything you did for her!

Aww! I'm so sorry for your loss!  How long did you have her for? I've read that elderly bettas often have "humped" backs, so that may be one way to tell how old she may have been. :(

Older bettas tend to lose color, and get this 2 weird lumps on their heads above their eyes, at least thats what I've noticed

you can tell by the size of your betta, too. a fully mature betta is pretty big! minus all his fins, his body is about 2.5 to 3 inches big.... at about 2 inches i'd say he's about a year and a 1/2 old...
also, how long hav u had ur betta? a petstore betta is usually between 3 to 6 months old.. usually between 3 and 5 months. so add that to the amount of time u'v had him. and as u'v probably know, he lives abt 3-5 years.
how bad is the fin rot? if it got to her body then she could die from it.
it could b an internal parasite... look up the part where she goes "crazy" before she died... there is a type of internal parasite that makes fish do that b4 they die.
water quality can b a prob too.
Sorry about the loss of your baby :-(

ive had her for about a year, and i bought her from petsmart..

the finrot was pretty bad...as it spreaded WAY faster that i expected, within 1 day, 80% of her fins were WAMOOSH.

ill try to find the internal parasite thingy you were talking about...she was doing flips, swimming upside down, running into the gravel, etc.etc. at a high rate of speed for the last 10 seconds of her life =(
