Well i went out and got some plants today. Hopefully they are good ones and will not die easily. I have never had plants in my tank before and hope I made some good starter choices. I don't want to kill them.

A fellow Wisconsinite! looks like java moss and some type of Vallisneria, the other two I recognize I just can't name. I think one starts with an E .

Also your tank looks like a 55gal and I am guessing the bulb is 40watts. The plants might survive, but I doubt the will grow. I have never had anything live for very long in my 55gal. I'm hoping to fix that this summer :shifty:.

Also I like that broken vase thing.

The top pic is of a swordplant (Echinodorus sp) at the front with java moss at the back. Both good plants. The swordplant might shed its old leaves but should grow new ones. Just pick off the old leaves off when they go soft and brown.
2nd pic is vallis
3rd pic is elodia/ anarchis, or hydrilla depending on where you are located.
They are all good plants and should do well.

Top is echindorous radicans, more oval/ round leaves than amazon swords. Get some more plants, it will help keep algae at bay and it will help your plants you have just bought. The airstone won't help plants either as it releases co2.

Good start, surrounding that vase will make a good effect. :)
