I just setup my 125 gal fresh water tank. It has a wet/dry filter with 2 corner filters. After I set everything up and put water in the tank and started running the pump and filters it works all fine but my corner filters that suck in water are so loud. Any suggestions on how to make it quiet?

if your "wet/dry' is big enough for the tank, just get rid of the corner filters. theyre not doing anything for your tank

Well it's the pipe that is sucking in water to bring it down below my tank to the wet/dry filter. When the pipe sucks in water it makes a loud noise. I have a sponge on top of it but that still didnt help.

Is the tube blocked or partially covered? Have you tried moving it deeper? Have you tried checking the impellor is still ok?

So you think cutting the pvc pipe that sucks the water into the filter will help?

ive cut from the top of the pipe an inch down and halfway round the pipe and capped them off at the top and put a mesh cover round (so no fish get sucked in) so ive still got the full length of pipe to keep the water level where i want it, if you start cutting the pipe down the water level will also go down to just above the height of the outlet because the water can only go as high as the outlet drain pipe to the wet dry sump if that makes any sense lol

is the outlet (to the wet dry sump) pipe behind glass in the corners ?

if so you can cut the to where you want and that wont affect the water level as the glass keeps that level

We are making two assumptions here that may not yet be able to be made. We are assuming a sump based wet/dry. Probably correct, but let's check first :good: Next we are assuming a certain pipe installation/lay-out and that we definitely cannot assume yet

Perhaps we should wait for the OP to post back stating their set-up type (sump/canister), and the pipework being used (if applicable, photo's speaking more than words ;) )?

All the best

Guy at a pet store told me to put a little piece of sponge right in the insert of the tube..just have it sticking out so it doesnt get completly sucked in. It worked so far. It's quiet now.
