My Filter Died!

I believe it was late last night, as I heard a weird sound but wasn't sure what it was. As I was half-asleep I didn't get up to check either. This morning I noticed my croaking gouarmis just sitting there, not hardly swimming, even when I went to feed them. When I checked the filter, it was completely dead. I have rigged up a bubbler thing and slipped the filter media into the tank. How long will they be ok like this?

Get another filter as soon as possible.

Oh I am... it just may be a few hours before I can get there and back. They are still just hiding, the stripes faded looking. I hope they'll make it.

don't know if you got the new filter yet but it may not be dead. My girlfriends filter croaked out on her once. Turned out it was something stuck in the impeller i think. Anyways try taking the filter apart (remove the impeller and clean the hole it sits in) then turn it back on. try this a few times.
