Hi , i have been treating my poorly tank for septeciamia for over a week, one of my harelquins is getting a very fat belly, i have had it for about 3/4 weeks and the other one is fine? Any suggestions?

abdominal dropsy?

If you can confirm this the next step is to get him into a quarantine tank...

Is this contagious 2..am curently treating the whole tank for septecemia? i avnt got another tank other thank the one i am fishless . wot meds does this need?

Actually thinking about it, the treatment for sept may also tackle dropsy.... so perhaps it isn't this at all!

Sadly septicemia and dropsy go hand in hand.

It is recoverable but of course this depends on how advanced it is.

Yes, good luck with that...

Incidentally, what meds are you using and how are you using it?
What is the sell-by date, if present?

Andy

im using interpet, anti internal bacteria, i dosed 6ml on day 1, then the same 4 days lata..had 2 wait another 4 days before the starting again, which was today, i done a 30 % water change 1st tho. i cant find a sell by date tho, but is jst bought it last week and broke the seal last week. Oh and i added a small amount of salt on the advice of wilder.

How do i give it a bath? just in a tub or something? I will get some epsom salts in the mornin as i dont av any in. How much would i use?

Will it pass onto the other fish in the tank? most of them are looking reasonably healthy now, with the exception of the pinkish tip on my angel fish and slight reddish tinge of the other harlequin.

The fish needs issolating as the bacteria from the fish with septicemia can enter the tank.

These are appropriate concentrations for short term dips intended to last from 5-10 minutes, or up to 30 at longest. Use a teaspoon per gallon

any suggstions what i could put them in, i only have one filter and heater and that would have to stay in the tank. i just dont know what to do for the best. :(
