My Factory Tour @ New-Era-Aquaculture

That should be good. Only recently started using their CA/SA Cichlid Pellets, but I am very impressed so far and the fish seem to love them.

They are a sponsor on another F, and when i mentioned on there post i only lived a few miles away from their factory and never tried New Era the sales guy told me to ring the office ask for a certain individual and he would arrange a tour of the factory,

i was straight onto the phone got put through to the individual and had it all arranged for a factory tour today with free samples at the end, can not wait to see how the product is manufactured and everythink else that is involved.

Well guys i had my factory tour at new era aquaculture, i had a amazing time and they all made me very welcome, i felt like i was a VIP

I arrived late it was'nt a good start but i did get lost, i was greeted by david who is the marketing manager, who gave me a firm handshake and then was lead to the conference were i was introduced to tom the sales manager, i was instantly put at ease has i was slighty nervous going in to the unknown

Then i was asked if i wanted a hot drink but decided on having a glass of water, they explained to me the product in detail from the raw ingredients to mixing, the machines and the packaging

It was all very interesting and they explained it to me with a passion in the product and the company, tom told me the ingredients were all top grade fit for human consumption apart from the fish meal which is not used for human consumption but they buy in the best has it uses the whole fish not just parts of it, and when it is ground into meal it loses all the fish oils so they add this to the mix

They also explained they do not cook/bake there products has it will lose alot of proteins and carbohydrates in the cooking process, has alot of other companys cook there's to make it float thats why none of new era's products float, they are basically the raw ingredients mixed, thats why the rift lake green can be moulded into larger pieces has it is very pliable

Also they do not add anythink to there mix that the fish can not get in the lake for example garlic, also what they do add is every think the fish needs so the fish have less waste and in turn will help with the clarity of the water and the bio-load on your filter

They are very dedicated to fish physiology and biochemistry and looking to improve and develop there products further

He told me they started the company approx eight years ago from a small house in grimsby designing a logo before they even set up the company, has what was on the market at the time was not meeting the needs of the fish, and the journey it has taken to get the company where it is today dealing on it's reputation and by word of mouth

They also told me they supply some very big public aquariums all over the world including the usa and dubai

Then came the tour, which tom still talking passiontly about the product led me round the factory, i saw pallet's of new era packaged ready to be shipped to the usa and other countries, then i was lead into another shed where all the raw ingredients was stored in racking and also saw the mixing room with all the scales, tubs, 45 gallon drums of fish oils all in a well cleaned room with only access allowed to personel with hair nets and white coats all very clinical

Then in the next room i saw the machines alot of them add been designed by themselves to do the job needed, the pellet machine and the machine that makes there flakes he also told me each product they sell have a different mix

Then i was lead back to the conference room where david gave me a new era carrier bag with a few new era pens and a leaflet, while david was showing me the leaflet tom went and brought me back a 300g tub of rift lake green where he removed the lid and showed me the product and how pliable it was, then he went and got me a 300g tub of mini marine grazer showed me the product and the suction cups that come with it has these were ok to feed my mbuna has they were not to high in protein , then he asked me if i had any small fish i explained i had 4 tanks my show tank and 3x 3fts tanks all with my fry at varying ages and size so they gave me 2 small tubs of alga flakes has these are low in protein and can be easily crumbled up to feed the smaller fish

So to sum it all up i had a great time and feel privlidged that david and tom could take time out from there busy schedules and talk about there product and show me around the factory

I will never forget it

thanks David & Tom
