my EI

I wouldnt bother doing another test, just dose 5ppm no3 and it will bring it between 10-15ppm in the tank, let it drop back from 15ppm and then in a couple of days you can test and just add what ever amount of ml to bring it back to 15ppm, let it flucuate between 10-15ppm you dont have to be exact.

Just keep dosing and keep the co2 in check and hopefully the algae will slow down or stop growing, keep removeing as much as you can.

thanks zig..i was wondering if an excess of po4 or no3 could cause algae to take hold? or which one in overabundance would help algae out the most? seems like now that im on EI i have more algae growth than before dosing began. its still not an explosion but my plants are showing signs of falling apart now. i dosed an extra 5ppm of no3 today and .25ppm po4 along with micros. im starting to give plastic a hard thinking now since this hobby is becoming labor intensive.

At the levels you have in your tank the no3 and PO4 is not a problem, it wont cause algae, the algae probably took hold before you started dosing EI, is your co2 at 30ppm and has it been constant and stable, thats more than likely the culprit.

If your plants are showing signs of disintigrating or falling apart then this is a sign of a major deficiency, probably the same one the algae is feeding off, give the EI a chance you are only dosing it for a week so far.

But check the co2, this is normally where most problems lie.

well its been about a month now and at first while tryin to keep my no3 at or above 10 and my po4 round 1 i seemed to do nothin but grow algae and after a while just decided to let it go and just my luck seems to be better. the plants look healthier and the algae is dying off with no added dosing in two weeks. maybe im lucky and need minimal dosing, no heavy pearling or anything( i wish) but my plants are growing above the waterline with big healthy leaves and the swords are also breaching..
