Heres a few pics of my Dwarf Puffer I've named puffy, I think it may be a girl but too small to tell. Theres a few whole tank shots in there also. He/she's in a 10 gallon tank, pretty heavily planted and he/she's great. Enjoy!

Isn't a 10 Gallon tank too small for a fish of that size and what size it'll grow to?

No not even close, I could get a few in there. Its a Dwarf Puffer so it'll only get to about an inch in length. The only thing that would be worried about is aggression with other fish but he/she'll be the only resident.

Tank size is fine. Looks ill, what have you fed it? It's got the 'hollow' stomach that can be caused by internal problems common in dwarf puffers.

I've fed him freeze dried foods. He hasnt really eaten much until today so his empty stomach could just be caused by lack of food. What should I look for as far as internal problems and what could I do to cure it?

dont want to raid this thing

but i found that with my old dp he ate so many snails

that i had to start my own tank full

*just a suggestion*

:) looking at those pics was like where waldo?

great tank setup and its 5 gallons per dp

goodluck

Got me worried at the thought that he might be sick but I went upstairs and got some freezedried bloodworms and sucked them up with a turkey baster and shot them out in front of him and immediately he got a few and ate them and now his bellys as big as ever, I'll get a new pic of him. Just wait a few minutes.

Edit: Ok, not the best picture to show that his belly is fatter but you can at least see it filled out some. All the good ones I took were out of focus. :grr: Anyways heres the pic.
I got one from above so you can compare...

nice DP, i got one yesterday. Adding on to what 14gtr14 said a male puffer should have a dark strip down the belly, as well as wrinkles behind the eyes, tis not hard to tell, mines a female :good:

edit: is he/she the only fish in the tank? if so then you could add another one since the tank is so planted, and/or some ottos too.

Since its so small it only ate like one centimeter in length bloodworm, probably some bits and pieces after I took the pic and all. When I went to bed his stomach had subsided a little bit but not as bad as it was. Do you still think he might have some internal problems? Oh and thanks for all of the nice comments guys. Yes I know how to sex them and he's definately too small and juvenile to tell what he/she is. And yes he/she is the only one in the tank and I'll probably get another one if I can find one. This one was the only one it seems in my area cause I had to go way out of my way to get it.
